Rights Respecting Schools Group

Rights Respecting Committee – Session 2016/17

2016-09-09-12-06-12

This is one of St. Paul’s newest committees which was set up to address working towards the rights respecting school award. Representatives from each class meet regularly to discuss the United Convention of Rights of the Child and how it is utilised within the school. A rights-respecting school not only teaches about children’s rights but also models rights and respect in all its relationships: between teachers / adults and pupils, between adults and between pupils.

The Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) is a UK-wide initiative for all children and all those working with or for children in formal education. UNICEF is the organisation behind this promotion of children’s rights. They support schools to ensure that rights are embedded in their ethos and policy making and have created a programme of activities for the children to carry out to ensure that pupils learn about their rights.
